The Kentucky Highlands Promise Zone receives no direct grant funding or tax credits. However, organizations within the Promise Zone receive preference points and priority consideration for selected Federal competitive grants and priority access to opportunities for demonstration and pilot programs. These programs will change throughout the 10-year Promise Zone designation period. The current list of opportunities includes:

Corporation for National & Community Service – Americorps VISTA (5 members assigned to the Promise Zone); Social Innovation Fund
U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development – Choice Neighborhoods Program
U.S. Small Business Administration – Micro-Entrepreneurship Initiative; HUB Zone Program; Women’s Business Center Training
U.S. Department of Justice – Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program; COPS Hiring Program
U.S. Department of Labor – Opportunity Youth Demonstration Project; YouthBuild; Reintegration of Ex-Offenders
